Is it really 100% stainless steel inside?
Yes. The basket, the drawer frame, and the interior ceiling (heating element area) are all uncoated food-grade metal. There are no non-stick chemicals (PTFE/PFOA) in the cooking zone.
Is it harder to clean than non-stick?
It's different, but durable. While you can't just wipe it with a paper towel like Teflon, the benefit is that you can soak it, scrub it with steel wool, or throw it in the dishwasher without fear of ruining the coating. It stays hygienic forever.
Will the outside get hot?
The unit is cool-to-touch on the handle and control panel, but like all appliances, the rear vent will expel hot air. We use a double-glazed window to keep heat inside where it belongs.
